If you haven’t heard about the dangers of lawn pesticides, then be prepared to be frightened. I have included the direct link to the piece at the bottom of the excerpt. I have also included some other links that may be helpful to you.

Lawn Pesticides and Children’s Health

“People and parents that care can make a difference”

“Come Fall, as in our Springs, the yellow warning flags will fly on some lawns to alert people that poison has been applied. First, let us not assume safety here! Registration of pesticides with the Environmental Protection Agency, does not mean they are safe …”

“The Environmental Protection does not test pesticides, and no turf pesticides have ever been tested for their health effects on children.”

“Today the expectant mother’s “umbilical cord contains over 270+ toxic chemicals, to include pesticides!”

“Of 30 commonly used lawn pesticides, 19 have studies linking them with cancer, thirteen are linked with birth defects, 21, with reproductive effects, 15 with neurotoxicity or abnormal brain development.”

Lawn Pesticides and Children’s Health

Contact with lawn pesticides during pregnancy is also indicated as being harmful to Mom and unborn child. Ask your pediatrician, or your primary health care professional.

I ran across some indication that lawn pesticides may be banned in Canada. Does anyone know if that is true? Let us know in the comments below…

Here is a link to a list of the “Health Effects of 30 Commonly Used Lawn Pesticides.” Just click the link…

As always, do your due diligence. Do some more research, and ask questions of the health professional. Don’t be ‘chicken littles.’ The sky is not falling… at least not yet.

Exercise Deficit Disorder in Youth a Hidden Truth

Hey, I’m from another generation, I know. I remember when President Kennedy promoted Physical Fitness. I still have eyes and ears though. I can see the ever increasing trend for not only youth, but young children to become stagnant. Everywhere children are texting, talking on the cell phone, or playing video games. This is not just inside the home. Play grounds are closing due to increased insurance concerns of communities. Public schools are reducing the requirements for physical education, break times for physical activity, and the access provided for extra-curricular sports and other psychically active events sponsored by educational districts.

Balance…. Balance… Balance…

Exercise deficit disorder in youth is becoming an emergent health concern for school nurses. You’ve heard the phrase ‘play now or pay later.’ Well, exercise deficit disorder in youth and the resulting obesity, lack of coordination, and confidence fits into that category for a lifetime. ‘Play now or pay later…’

Is childhood obesity or physical inactivity affecting your children?

Let the readers know in the comments below.

“Preterm birth blamed for too many problems”

“Researchers analysed the medical records of 3.3 million children born in Sweden between 1973 and 2008, and confirmed the strong link between preterm birth (generally classified as before 37 weeks’ gestation) and the risk of infant and young adult death, autism and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).”

“However, the study authors also concluded that many other problems that have been linked with preterm birth, such as severe mental illness, learning problems, suicide and poverty may instead be more closely related to other factors that people share with other family members.”
